Offline connections
Sometimes, friends and even family members around you, even though they might be
computer and blogging illiterate, they can help you out in seeking a blogging
solution as well.
Ask your friend who might be a soccer fan to rate your soccer-related blog for
you as they will know what are they looking for when they surf to a soccer site.
Also, ask your grandma or father to surf through your blog. If they find it
tough to navigate around your blog, you seriously need to improve your blog
navigation.
You can find all sorts of questions, discussions and debates going on at such
places. If your blog is on racing, a forum on racing will be available out there
to help in content creation for your blog.
Blogging experts or those who writes about blogging possesses technical
and composite blogging skills because of their daily research and contact with
this topic.
When you face a problem or a crisis with your blog, try solving it yourself.
This does not only allow you to gain a new knowledge on blogging, it also cut
the the fuss on waiting for replies which might take a long time.
Before trying out any solutions, backup everything that can be backed up. Themes
codes, FTP files, MySQL databases, important e-mails and documents are some
examples of some things that need backup because the loss of these information
will mean disaster for you if anything is not right with the solution provided.
Always remember to express your appreciation to someone’s help. Apart from
mannerism, you actually build up a relationship which allows you to get an
answer from the same party faster if you face another problem of the same
category. This indirectly gives you a backing to cope with some blogging
questions you might face in the future.
The title was something that I was keen to read as I think that being confident
as a blogger is important - however as I read it I found myself reacting against
every point made.
The five points:
#1 - Don’t Ever Talk About Being Dugg/Reddited/Stumbled
#2 - Don’t Disclose Failure Unless It’s To Make a Point
#3 - Shout About Your Successes
#4 - Write with Authority
#5 - You Don’t Need To Tell The Truth All The Time
A blogger should know your company or the topics you want to blog about
inside out. No one knows your business and market like you, but if for some
reason you can’t do it, delegate to a person - or a group of bloggers - who know
your business. The right person may not even be somebody in marketing, but
possibly could be in customer support or a technical person.
Renew your signature file to point to your blog, tell your newsletter readers
about it, promote it in your presentations, talk about it on the next networking
event, and so on.
Now there is plenty of room for
bloggers to blog in their own voice/style - but quite a bit of
the advice in this post left me wondering what type of blog a blogger would
build if they took all of the advice in it.
Great marketing is supplying the right information at the right time. Google
more than any other entity on the web or in the world, for that matter, fulfills
this criterion at its very core. Google is re-writing the book on how products
are marketed.
Google now has over 60% of the search traffic in the U.S., with a
staggering 7.3 billion monthly searches. In some countries Google's search share
is 80% or more. Those webmasters who have number one keyword listings in all
three of the major search engines will know Google is the only game worth
playing because it delivers by far the most traffic.
Those marketers who have managed to acquire number one listings for their
targeted keywords in Google's organic search are smiling all the way to the
bank. Mainly because Google commands enormous trust with the surfing/buying
public and this is demonstrated through higher conversion rates. Likewise, those
who have mastered the Adsense
and Adwords programs will know Google is an excellent source of online income.
Most of the complaints against Google stems from its PageRank system, which is
supposed to be Google's version of online democracy in action, a link is a vote
for your page or content. The higher the number of links, the higher your page
will be ranked in Google's index or SERPs - Search Engine Results Pages.
